Frequently Asked Questions
For Students
On these days, CSO staff members take 15-minute walk-in appointments to
meet with students. On Resume Blitz days, stop by from 10:00am-noon or
2:00-4:00pm to have your resume quickly reviewed by one of the CSO staff
members. For a Wednesday Walk-In, drop in from 2:00-4:00pm for a
first-come, first-served appointment!
The CSO hosts employers who choose to interview students right here in
our office for various job and internship opportunities. Upcoming
on-campus interview schedules can be viewed and applied to through
JobGrove.
On-campus interviews take place in the CSO in one of our four interview
rooms. If you have a telephone interview with an organization, you can
also use one of these interview rooms if available; please contact Linda
Reash (x3371) to check on availability of the room.
Visit
JobGrove to view all
posted job and internship opportunities as well as on-campus interview
schedules.
Employers are able to specify qualifiers in their posting information.
If you receive the message that you do not qualify for a position, then
there is likely something in your profile (major, classification, QPA,
etc.) that does not agree with the requirements.
Job and internship opportunities are posted throughout the year. We
encourage you to begin applying early in the academic year for these
positions.
Yes, the CSO has many resources available not
just for job and internship seekers, but also those pursuing grad
school. Stop by our office to pick up the latest edition of Graduate
School Guide, a comprehensive guide to doctoral, master's and
professional degree programs. Check out the
Graduate School section in "Advice & Preparation" on our website for
further resources and information on graduate school.
Please contact our office (724-458-3371) in advance if you are unable to
make it to your appointment.
Our office is open Monday through Friday 8:00am-noon and 1:00-5:00pm.
It's never too early to visit the CSO! We work with all students, no
matter what major and year!
Education Career Services (ECS) functions as a satellite office of the
CSO. Mrs. Deborah Snyder serves as the Associate Director of ECS and is
excited to meet with Education majors, as well as those students
considering Education as a major. ECS is located in the HAL 100- the
Education Suite. Education majors are also welcome to visit the CSO for
access to additional resources.
It is helpful to consider in advance what you would like to accomplish
during the appointment taking into considering the time allotted. For
resume review appointments, come prepared with 2 copies of your resume
(one for you to take notes and one for the career counselor). You may
just want to set up an initial appointment to get yourself situated and
determine what a good course of action might be for the academic year.
While the CSO can be of assistance regarding the internship search, if
you would like to receive academic credit for an internship, you will
need to speak with your academic department’s Internship Coordinator.
Visit the
Internships website for more information.
