Welcome Students!
Our overarching mission in Career Services is to help guide
students in their realization and pursuit of God’s calling
for their lives and we look forward to assisting you in this
exciting process. Tangibly, this means working through our
Four-Year Process where we encourage you to
assess yourself,
explore your career options,
decide upon a career path and
pursue a job. We offer many services and resources that
are itemized below to assist you in this career development
process. We hope you will take advantage of them during your
years here at Grove City College!
Scope of Offerings/Services
Career Counseling
You can meet with a career counselor to discuss a variety of
topics including your major, career options associated with
your major, interviewing advice, resume and cover letter
assistance, job and internship searching strategies, and
more.
Self-Assessment
Self-assessment testing is available to students using the
CSO. We provide
students the opportunity to take four free assessments
through the web resource, MyPlan, as well as the Myers-Briggs Type
Indicator (MBTI) and the Strong Interest Inventory (SII) for
a nominal fee per assessment. These assessments
provide feedback on career options that may be a fit given
one's personality (MBTI) and/or interests (SII). Career
counselors are available to help students interpret
assessment results and connect those results to potential
career paths.
Career Library/Resources
Our career library in our centralized office offers 100+
titles on a variety of career-related topics including:
Calling/vocation
Major-to-career guides and books
Internship listings
Employer information
Newspapers, special job-related issues of Fortune and
Forbes, and other periodicals
General graduate school information
And more!
Stop into our library anytime during office hours to access
these resources, as well as our computer stations and
printer/copier.
The CSO also provides various web resources and career
guides to assist students in their career development.
Internship and Job Search
Assistance
Students can meet with a counselor and receive personal
advising on internship and job search strategies. Counselors
will work with students on goal-setting along with refining
job searching skills before teaching you how to pursue
opportunities in the advertised and hidden job markets.
On-Campus Recruiting/Job
Postings
Each year, many organizations visit campus and interview
students in the CSO for full-time jobs and internships, as
well as post jobs and internships for our students to view.
We would encourage you to register on our online career
system,
JobGrove, to view these opportunities and to begin to
familiarize yourself with this helpful resource.
Workshops/Events
Career Services’ staff members will conduct various
workshops/presentations to student groups on career-related
topics throughout the school year. Furthermore, our office
coordinates numerous
events for our students, including our annual fall
Career Fair, Internship Fair, Camp Fair, alumni networking
events, Unique Careers in Education Expo, Resume Writing
Seminars, alumni mock interviews, to name a few.
Mock Interviews
Students can schedule a time to conduct a mock interview
with a career counselor. This allows students the
opportunity to hone their interviewing skills and receive
constructive feedback in order to prepare for internship and
full-time job interviews. |
