Steve Fladda is visiting campus for the Career Fair (W) and an Info Session (T). GCC grads teaching at Black Forest Academy, Germany --Heather Brown and Rachel Nicholson-- will Skype in and share about the application process and their experiences teaching abroad. GCC Annual Career Fair

Oct. 8, 2014 (Wed.), 12 Noon-5:00 pm


The Career Fair is the centralized CSO's major recruiting and networking event. Over 150 organizations from various sectors (for-profit, non-profit, graduate schools, seminaries, law schools, etc.) will be attending the event.  Check JobGrove for a list of education-related employers and grad programs


Wake County Public School System - Info Session

Oct. 21, 2014 (Tues.), 5:00-6:30 pm

Seminar Room, Fairfield Inn, Slippery Rock

Wake Country Public School System is a large school district in Raleigh, NC, with approximately 170 schools.  Every year WCPSS hires a large number of educators.  Recruiter Sherri Morris will share information on WCPSS and the application process.  WCPSS will recruit the following day at the SRU Job Fair and in the spring at PERC, so this Info Session and time for Q&A will provide valuable tips for an interview with WCPSS later.  Email for more info.  (Note: there are many GCC alumni teaching in WCPSS, including 2014 grad, Grace Lehr!)



Cartwright School District, Arizona

Oct. 22 (Wed.) - Slippery Rock University - Professional Dev. Day/Job Fair

Dr. Dave Santellanes will be conducting teacher candidate interviews at SRU in Bailey Library on October 21.  Certification areas of primary interest:


*Dec. 2014 & May 2015 grads - PreK-4, special education, 7th and 8th grade math, science, and English. (AZ can only accept secondary 7-12 certified teachers, not middle level 4-8, unfortunately).  He will also be available at the Job Fair (Wed., 22nd).

Employer panel from 8:30-10 AM; Job Fair from 10:00-2:00.  Panel discussion with educators and administrators from local districts will be followed by a small job fair with approximately 10-15 employers.

Fairfax County Public Schools, VA - Info Session

Nov. 18, 2014 (Tues.), 4:30-5:30 pm

Fairfax Country Public Schools, the largest school district in Virginia and the tenth largest district in the United States, anticipates hiring approximately 800 new teachers for 2015-16.  FCPS includes 196 schools and centers, the majority located in suburban areas.  A very diverse student population, 93% of FCPS grads go on to postsecondary education.  Tanisha Holland, Special Projects Administrator, Recruitment, will share information (via a virtual connection) on Fairfax County Public Schools, specifically related to their application process and timeline.  Come to explore - no committment!  (FCPS recruits at PERC each March.  We have several GCC alumni teaching in FCPS!)  Register on JobGrove today!!



Camp Fair

Representatives from numerous camps across the country will be here to recruit GCC students for summer staff positions including; ministry, worship team leaders, counselors, lifeguards, craft directors, and many more.

Professionalism & Etiquette Night

Don't miss this evening on dining etiquette, professional dress, and more!  Dinner will be provided and clothing from Banana Republic will be featured in a fashion show!  Attendees have a chance to win a $50 Banana Republic gift card and other prizes!

PERC Teacher Job Fair

Monroeville Convention Center

150 school districts (and a few online placement organizations) will be at PERC to share information and conduct interviews for teaching positions.  GCC will sponsor a bus to and from PERC (see Ms. Walker to sign up).  Check the PERC Website to review a list of employers, grab some preparation tips, etc.
