13th Annual Career Fair

While this event is not specifically for education majors, there WILL BE
organizations related to the interests of ed. students. Last year,
approximately 120 organizations attended from various sectors (for-profit,
non-profit, graduate schools, seminaries, law schools, etc.). This
is a convenient opportunity to get some job fair
experience.
Peace Corps offers a way to refine and develop skills
and gain international experience, while helping others. BusinessWeek
consistently rates Peace Corps as one of the best places to launch a
career. Come hear from recruiter Jonnette Maurer about what it is like
to serve overseas in the Peace Corps. (Ms. Maurer will also be available
earlier in the day at the CSO Career Fair, 12-5:00).

Jennifer Walker will be available during the day in HAL Atrium and
presenting on the Network of International
Christian Schools at 7pm through the Kappa Delta Pi professional
development series.
NICS provides opportunities to incorporate an American-style
education (in English, American curriculum, American school calendar) and
reach students from all over the world with quality international school
education. NICS operates 19 international Christian schools in 15
countries (see the NICS website for a complete listing of countries).
NICS is looking for teachers and administrators who are passionate about

Bering Strait School District Virtual Employer Info Sesion

A virtual info session on the Bering Strait School District in
Alaska will be held on Monday March 12th, 2012 from 5:30-6:15pm. There
is no need to sign up. Come hear from two 2011 graduates who are
currently teaching at the Bering Strait School District in Alaska.
Caleb Jablonski and Gino Brancaleone are both teachers at BSSD, and they
found their jobs through the PERC Teacher Jon Fair. Caleb, Gino and two

The Bering Strait School District, in
northwest Alaska, serves fifteen isolated villages on the Seward
Peninsula, on the eastern end of Norton Sound and on two islands in the
Bering Sea. Current enrollment is approximately 1800 students and is
almost 100% Alaskan Native Inupiat, Yu'pik or Siberian Yu'pik Eskimo.

education major will be
offering advice to current education majors on looking for jobs. Shane has
been a PSSA Math Coach and is currently a long-term sub at Freeport Area
Junior High. At the info session Shane will offer tips on: portfolios,
resumes, and other job search documents; where to look for jobs; how to
proceed when geographical options are limited; developing an effective
"back-up" plan; creative job search strategies; and tips for transitioning
to the classroom.
