Spring 2013
Interested in gathering some tips about teaching internationally? Do you

Teach
for America (TFA) is a national organziation that recruits outstanding
leaders to teach for 2 years in challenging high-needs schools. This
is an info session open to both education and non-education majors.
Kate Shaffner '13 and Ben Colas '13 will be sharing their experiences with
the application process, while Thomas Janzen '10 will be sharing about his
time as a member of the TFA Corps!
March 20 (Wed)
This is the big one - our major
teacher job fair of the year. Approximately 100 school districts
(and a few online placement organizations) will be at PERC to share
information and conduct interviews for teaching positions. GCC will
sponsor a bus to and from PERC.

PERC Preparation Info Session
Be prepared before you go to PERC! Attend this informational session
to fully equip yourself for this job fair. Topics that will be
covered will include: what to bring, appropriate dress, what to expect at
the Monroeville Convention Center, interview tips, etc... Make the most
out your trip and your educational future. There are still a few

Come

presentations on how to create a professional teaching portfolio.
They will be sharing information on what to include and how to use a

teaching at a Classical Christian School near Philadelphia. Paul Fisher, Headmaster, and Jill Barton, Dean of Academics, from Coventry

Wake County Public School System is a
large school district in North Carolina, containing over 169 schools.
Every year Wake County hires a large number of educators.
Recruiters Shannon Morris and Jason Kennedy will share information on WCPS
and the application process. WCPS will recruit at PERC, so this

teaching classes at Urban Promise’s inner city children’s camp for six
weeks. The Urban Promise community allows interns to come and experience
God at work in and through them in the context of a vibrant Christian
community.

The City Rescue Mission Info Session

The City Mission, Cleveland OH, prepares interns for practical
service and ministry with men, women & children in an urban, crisis
setting. They offer over a dozen internship areas, with internship
time frames throughout a semester or over spring or winter breaks.
They will be presenting info for interested students at 12pm, but students
can stop by at any time between 11:30am and 1:30pm.

GCC, Ms. Lauffer has worked with refugees in Atlanta through an internship
that provides services to people from Iraq, Ethiopia, Nepal, Bhutan and
many other countries. She will share tips for using your degree to reach
out to the increasing refugee population as well as the logistics for
teaching outside of PA. If you want to use your degree to work with
internationals both in the States and around the world, this lecture may
be beneficial for you.

Glade Run serves at-risk children
ages 8 to 21 through residential treatment, group homes, and St.
Stephen’s Lutheran Academy, our private licensed school. Children are
referred to Glade Run from over 35 counties and 50 school districts
throughout Pennsylvania. Last year, 398 students were served in
educational programs including 188 children in therapeutic classrooms in
the Pittsburgh Public School system. In-community, outpatient services
are provided to more than 1,800 individuals and families each year from
our offices in Butler, Beaver Falls and Pittsburgh. Stop by the

Network of International Christian Schools (NICS)

Jennifer Walker will be available during the day in HAL Atrium.
NICS provides opportunities to incorporate an American-style education (in
English, American curriculum, American school calendar) and reach students
from all over the world with quality international school education.
NICS operates 19 international Christian schools in 15 countries (see the
