Why is play so Important? Play activities support the
development of the whole child in an appropriate and non-
stressful manner. Children are actively engaged and mastering
many foundational life skills. The 2009 Pre-Kindergarten
Pennsylvania Standards provide a framework for young children to
learn best constructing knowledge through meaningful play,
active exploration of the environment, and intentionally planned
