Activities & Internships
Phi Alpha Theta ФΑΘ
Phi Alpha Theta, the international history honorary, is “a
professional society whose mission is to promote the study
of history through the encouragement of research, good
teaching, publication and the exchange of learning and ideas
among historians. We seek to
bring students, teachers and writers of history together for
intellectual and social exchanges, which promote and assist
historical research and publication by our members in a
variety of ways.”
Its induction ceremony includes the following statement: “As
historians, we seek to serve the world in our courageous
search for the truth of the past, as well as ourselves in
our delight both in the quest for and in the discovery of
truth. But most of all we strive to serve God, who is the
author of truth, the source of all knowledge, and the reason
for our quest.”
At Grove City College, the honorary sponsors informal
discussions between professors and students, movie nights,
graduate school information meetings, thematic dinners,
freshman picnics, and trips to local historical sites. We
aim to strengthen the bonds among students within the
department and encourage historical scholarship.
We hold membership drives toward the
end of each semester. Those with questions should contact
Dr. Mark Graham (mwgraham@gcc.edu),
our chapter
advisor.
