Preparing for the
future
Students follow a
number of
calling/career paths out of our major. Some go
directly into professional ministry related fields.
Others go for Social Work or Counseling degrees.
Most students however look toward
seminary and/or graduate school in religion. Many
who go to seminary will proceed to the pastoral ministry
although some will seek further education at graduate
school.
Students who choose the graduate
school in religion direction will follow one of two
paths if their ultimate goal is a Ph.D. in order to do
research and/or teach. The one path is to go first
to a seminary for the M.Div. and from there to go to a
graduate university. The other of course is to go
directly to the graduate school which means coursework
for both an M.A. and Ph.D. before dissertation.
Most Religion-Christian Thought-Biblical Studies
Professors around the country opt for the first path
mentioned above.
