The internship experience in Exercise Science is designed to
provide practical application of the curriculum, entry level
professional experience and certification examination
preparation.
Usually completed in the junior year, internships can occur
over the summer or either during fall or spring semesters of
the senior year.
1 credit hour is equivalent to 60 clock hours of onsite, in
person, supervised, professional activity.
Exercise Science majors will complete an internship
consisting at least 5 credit hours = 300 clock hours.
An additional credit hour is permissible for a total
of 6 credit hours = 360 clock hours, which is the maximum
amount of internship credits which may count towards
graduation for all Grove City College students.
Internships may be paid or unpaid. Although, paid
internships may not include compensation from any resources
of the federal government.
Students should locate a facility for their
internship which is inline with their career aspirations.
Internship facilities may be located locally, near
students’ hometown, or nationwide. Internships are available
in, but not limited to, Health Fitness, Nutrition, Physical
Therapy, Coaching, Strength and Conditioning, and Athletic
Training.
Exercise
Science
internship applications are due to the Office of the Registrar on or
before Study Day of the previous semester in which the
internship will be completed.
