Submissions

The Grove City College Journal of Law & Public Policy invites submissions of unsolicited manuscripts, which should conform to The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (20th ed. 2015). Manuscripts should be submitted electronically in Microsoft Word™ format to LawJournal@gcc.edu The editors strongly prefer articles under 15,000 words in length, the equivalent of 50 Journal pages, including text and footnotes. The Journal will not publish articles exceeding 20,000 words, the equivalent of 60 Journal pages, except in extraordinary circumstances. To facilitate our anonymous review process, please confine your name, affiliation, biographical information, and acknowledgements to a separate cover page. Please include the manuscript’s title on the first text page. Please use footnotes rather than endnotes. All citations and formatting should conform to the 20th edition of The Bluebook. Selection takes place on a per-volume basis; thus, a piece is selected for a particular volume, but not necessarily a particular edition. Submissions are reviewed on a rolling basis, beginning in August and concluding when the volume is filled, typically around mid-March. For additional information about the Grove City College Journal of Law & Public Policy, please email us at LawJournal@gcc.edu.

Guidelines

  1. Author: All submissions must contain the name of the author. No anonymous submissions will be accepted. Multiple submissions by a single author are accepted and submissions written by multiple authors will also be accepted.
    • Note:All submissions must be the original work of the author.
  2. Titles: Submissions should contain a suggestion for a title; however, these are subject to the discretion of the editorial staff.
  3. Font: All submissions must be double-spaced in 12 point Times New Roman font.
  4. Margins: Must be 1-inch on all sides.
  5. Citations: All legal citations to cases in manuscripts submitted for publication should adhere to the format requirements in the Twentieth Edition of The Bluebook – A Uniform System of Citation (also known as the “Harvard Blue Book” or merely “The Blue Book”). It is available on reserve at Grove City’s Buhl Library and at most university's general and law libraries.
    • Please cite all sources using footnotes. Parenthetical citations will not be accepted.
Note: Citations are only required for substantive claims and material quoted from elsewhere (i.e. you do not need to cite where another made the claim "America is the greatest country in the world.")
  6. Article Length: We expect that a standard submission will be approximately ten to twelve pages in length, but submissions of any length will be considered. We do recommend that a submission be no longer than fifty pages.
  7. Abstract: All submissions must contain a max-200 word abstract detailing the topic of your paper and the argument you plan to pursue. The abstract should be included at the beginning of your submission.
  8. Content: The inclusion of “Public Policy” in the Journal’s title is intended to expand the scope of the Journal beyond that of the typical law review. We do ask however, that all submissions have some reasonable tie to the field of law. As an example: a commentary on the positive and negative effects of potential health care reform is not something that we would print. While in contrast, an article that scholarly discusses the legality or constitutionality of health care reform is acceptable. We are willing to address this distinction on a case-by-case basis, so if you have any questions regarding a potential submission please don’t hesitate to ask.
  9. Questions/Submissions: Can be sent to the Journal staff directly at LawJournal@gcc.edu.
