The name of this organization
shall be Newman Club of Grove City College.
The Newman Club is a fellowship
organization which seeks to meet the needs of Roman Catholic students at Grove
City College.
The
Newman Club shall strive for unity of the Christians on campus by upholding the
Roman Catholic Church and all its teachings. The goals and purposes of the
Newman Club are consistent with the mission of Grove City College. We will
contribute to the mission by:
We will also adhere to the
standards of conduct as delineated in the student handbook, The Crimson.
1.
Participation is open to all students.
2. Officers:
The service/ outreach activities shall be overseen by the officers.
3.
Advisor. The advisor shall be a member of the faculty or administration of
Grove City College.
4. Chaplain. The chaplain shall be appointed by the Diocese of Erie with the
approval of Grove City College administration.
1. Elections shall be held in
April at a date to be set by the officers. The new officer shall assume their
offices two weeks before the end of the school year.
2. In the event that the president steps down from office, the vice-president
will automatically become the new president, and a replacement for the
vice-president shall be elected. This replacement must have been a member of
Newman Club for at least one year. If any other officer steps down from office,
a replacement shall be elected from the general membership.

Meetings of the Newman Club shall be held once a week or more often as
necessary. Notice of the meetings shall be put in the newsletter.

The officers shall meet once a week in addition to the general meeting.
Dues shall be collected at the
beginning of the Fall semester but are not mandatory. The amount of the dues
shall be two or three dollars. The money shall be spent with the approval of
the officers. All checks drafted by the Newman Club shall be signed by the
treasurer and either the president or vice president.
By-laws
and revisions of the constitution of the Newman Club shall be introduced by the
officers. The approval is based on a 3/5 majority of the officers, approval of
the advisor and chaplain, and a 2/3 majority of the general membership. The
Grove City College Administrative Council must also approve all amendments.
