A Message From The Captain

We who are Grove Rugby salute you.  You must encounter our sport.  It pours out continuous movement, it cascades with contact and clash, forcing pure animal wildness through conditioned skill while leaving wildness aplenty for overflowing in play.  We’ve found no other game doing these to such perfection. 

Come to a rugby test of ours, what you would call a game or match.  The schedule is located here and the games played at home can be found on the IM fields, the fields just past the Hall of Arts and Letters and Alumni Hall, unless otherwise indicated.  Friends can be found there willing to explain the nature of the game, for rugby is unapologetically different from most other games.  There is a smashing harmony to the roles played by the bulky forwards as distinct from those of the sleek backs, and the same compelling greatnesses is amidst the fascinating array of plays involved in rugby such as rucks, trys, scrums, mauls, back tens, lineouts, kicks, and so on.   Even if you’ve never seen the oval ball ruggers toss around, learning to follow the flow of the rugby action can be an excellent experience of an afternoon, or a series of afternoons if you get hooked.  Which is likely.    

You won’t be disappointed with your experience of Grove Rugby, particularly if you’re a GCC student and decide after watching the glorious battles on the pitch (what you would call a field) to join the ranks of Grove Rugby for a time.  As a club sport, the time commitment is not huge, though the greatness of the opportunity is.    Take your chance to seize rough bodies and the day.
