Green, Rosselli honored

WEXFORD, Pa. -- Two Grove City College spring sports athletes recently earned weekly honors from the Presidents' Athletic Conference for in recognition of their respective performances last week. Freshman John Green (Ligonier, Pa./Ligonier Valley) earned Men's Track Athlete of the Week and sophomore Anthony Rosselli (Poland, Ohio/Poland) is the Player of the Week in men's tennis.

Green earned two wins at the PAC North Quad April 13 at Westminster College and contributed to a relay win at the Westminster Invitational three days later. Green won the 400 hurdles at the North Quad with a victorious time of 57.82 seconds. He also anchored the Wolverines' victorious 1600-meter relay team (3:28.86).

Saturday at Westminster, Green anchored Grove City's first-place 1600-meter relay, which posted a time of 3:24.44. He finished third in the 400 hurdles in 58.81, which placed him first among conference competitors in the event. Green also competed on the 400-meter relay, helping Grove City take third place with a time of 45.78.

The Wolverine track and field teams return to action April 29-30 for the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships in Bethany, W.Va.

Rosselli helped Grove City remain undefeated by going 4-0 in two conference matches last week. In Grove City's 9-0 win over visiting Waynesburg last Thursday, Rosselli earned a 6-0, 6-1 win at fourth singles and teamed with sophomore Caleb Fuller (Columbus, Ind./Homeschooled) for an 8-1 win at second doubles.

One day later, Rosselli helped key Grove City's 9-0 victory at Westminster by recording a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles. Rosselli also teamed with Fuller for an 8-2 triumph at second doubles.

Rosselli is 10-0 in singles play this year and owns a 9-2 mark in doubles action. Grove City concluded the conference schedule with a 7-0 league mark. The Wolverines are 10-0 overall, marking the team's best start since the 1965 team finished 11-0.

Grove City will host Allegheny Tuesday in non-conference action. The conference championships are April 29-30 at the Pennbriar Club in Erie, Pa.
