Grove City hosts Family Weekend Invitational

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's and women's track and field teams closed the 2015 regular season Friday afternoon by hosting their annual Family Weekend Invitational at Robert E. Thorn Field.

Seven Grove City athletes earned victories during the unscored meet. On the men's side, sophomore Nick Betz (Colorado Springs, Colo./Discovery Canyon) and junior Tom Kocur (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) both picked up wins.

For the women, senior Kara Cremean (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion), junior Eliza Lowe (Grove City, Pa./Grove City), sophomore Melanie Packard (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry), sophomore Rachel Watson (Jackson Center, Pa./Lakeview) and freshman Margi Haiss (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) all recorded individual wins.

Betz won the high hurdles in 15.15 seconds while Kocur cleared 5 feet, 10 inches to win the high jump. Cremean won the 1500 with a time of 5:25.82 while Lowe posted a victorious time of 15.69 seconds in the 100 hurdles.

Packard cleared 10-2 3/4 to win the pole vault. Watson marked at a meet-best 33-7 in winning the triple jump while Haiss's throw of 118-2 1/2 won the discus.

Several Grove City athletes have qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championships, which will be held May 14-15 in Springfield, Mass.
