Grove City hires Gregg

GROVE CITY, Pa. ' Grove City College has hired Matt Gregg as a full-time faculty member of its Department of Physical Education and Athletics, effective July 1, 2011. Gregg will work as an instructor of physical education and exercise science. He will also continue in his current role of assistant football coach and assistant men's and women's track and field coach.

A graduate of Hopewell High School in Beaver County (Pa.), Gregg graduated from Grove City in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in communication studies. In May 2010, he completed his master's degree in exercise science/health promotion (with emphasis in performance enhancement and injury prevention) from California University of Pennsylvania.

Gregg has spent the last three seasons as an assistant football coach at Grove City. Gregg will remain as an offensive line coach while also coordinating the preparation and editing of video for the program.

This spring, Gregg spent his first season as an assistant track and field coach at the College, working specifically with the throwing squads.

Gregg earned four letters as a member of the Grove City football team from 2004 to 2007 and started at center in each of his last three seasons. He earned All-Presidents' Athletic Conference honors three times, including First Team All-PAC recognition in 2006 and 2007. He captained the 2007 squad.

Following his senior season, Gregg represented the United States on a Division III all-star team that competed in the annual Aztec Bowl against a team of Mexican collegiate all-stars.

Grove City College recently added exercise science to its curriculum. The 2010-11 academic year marks the first year in which the College has offered exercise science as a major. The department expects to have its first exercise science graduates in May 2012.
