Grove City sending 20 to ECAC Championships

GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Grove City College women's and men's track and field teams will be well-represented next Thursday and Friday at the 2013 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Track and Field Championships, hosted by Springfield College in Springfield, Mass. Eleven members of the women's squad and nine Grove City men have qualified for the two-day meet.

On the women's side, senior Mary Kate Breese (Mercer, Pa./Mercer), junior Sarah Cessar (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock), junior Cayla Clawson (York, Pa./Central York), senior Anna Dunsworth (Erie, Pa./Strong Vincent), sophomore Caroline Kimpel (Columbiana, Ohio/Columbiana), freshman Eliza Lowe (Grove City, Pa./Grove City), junior Sadie Malone (Gates Mills, Ohio/Mount Vernon), freshman Emily Rabenold (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton), junior Laurel Skorup (Sandwich, Ill./Sandwich), senior Ella Smith (Becker, Minn./Becker) and sophomore Mara Womer (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) have all qualified for the ECAC meet.

The men's contingent includes junior Mun Hwan Cho (Seoul, Korea/Houghton Academy), junior John Green (Ligonier, Pa./Ligonier Valley), junior Andrew Ledbetter (Fairfax, Va./Oakton), junior Arleigh McRae (East Brookfield, Mass./Whitinsville Christian), senior Patrik Miller (Berlin, Ohio/Hiland), junior Matt Mucha (Parma, Ohio/Cuyahoga Falls), junior Alec Schultz (Wayzata, Minn./Orono), senior Cooper Thurston (Washington, Mo./Washington) and sophomore Thomas Whittaker (Grove City, Pa./Grove City).

Cessar, Clawson, Kimpel and Rabenold will run the four legs of the women's 3200 relay. Breese, Dunsworth, Rabenold and Smith will compete in the 10,000 while Skorup has qualified in the 3000 steeplechase. Lowe will run both hurdle events while Womer has qualified in the 400 hurdles. Malone has qualified in the high jump.

On the men's side, McRae, Mucha, Schultz and Thurston comprise the 3200 relay quartet. Green, Lenbetter, Miller and Whittaker will run the 400 relay with Cho serving as the alternate. Green will also run in the 400 hurdles and the open 400.

The meet will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 16.
