Seward earns Academic All-District

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Grove City College junior cross country/track and field performer Julia Seward (Elizabethton, Tenn./Science Hill) earned ESPN The Magazine/College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Track and Field/Cross Country College Division First Team Academic All-District II honors Thursday evening through voting by the region's sports information directors.

As a First Team selection, Seward now advances to the nationwide CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. The Academic All-America team for track and field/cross country will be announced later in June.

Seward is a two-year letterwinner in both cross country and track for Grove City. She qualified for the NCAA Championships in both cross country and track during the 2007-08 academic year. Seward qualified in cross country by taking 12th at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships. She earned All-Region honors.

Seward also qualified for the NCAA Track and Field Championships and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships in the 10,000-meter run. She won the Presidents' Athletic Conference title in the 10,000 and also earned runner-up honors in the 5,000. Seward also earned runner-up at the PAC Cross Country Championships and helped Grove City capture the team title.

She owns a 3.96 cumulative grade-point average while majoring in English. Seward is a six-time Dean's List honoree and a four-time PAC Academic Honor Roll selection.

Seward is the 11th Grove City student-athlete to earn Academic All-District honors this year.

District II includes all non-NCAA Division I colleges and universities in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, Delaware, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. To be nominated for the CoSIDA Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.2 or higher cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or significant reserve.
