Rabenold earns CoSIDA Academic All-America

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Recent Grove City College graduate Emily Rabenold (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) earned Second Team Division III Academic All-America honors in cross country/track and field Wednesday afternoon from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). She earned Third Team CoSIDA Academic All-America recognition last year and is the 11th Grove City student-athlete to earn multiple CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.

Last fall, Rabenold earned Presidents' Athletic Conference Most Valuable Performer honors in cross country for the third straight season. She also qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championships in 2013 and 2014.

Rabenold concluded the 2014-15 season by placing 13th in the 10,000 meters at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships in Canton, N.Y. She earned Presidents' Athletic Conference Most Valuable Performer honors in outdoor track in April 2015 after winning the steeplechase, 5,000 and 10,000. Rabenold also received the conference's inaugural indoor track MVP after winning league titles in the mile and 5,000 meters.

In 2014, Rabenold earned NCAA All-America honors in cross country by placing 28th at the NCAA Championships. Rabenold also earned 15th place in the steeplechase at the 2014 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. She holds Grove City records in the steeplechase and 10,000 meters.

The College honored Rabenold as its Sportswoman of the Year for the 2014-15 academic year.

Rabenold graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in biology. She compiled a 3.91 cumulative grade-point average at Grove City and earned placement on the College's Dean's List and the conference's Academic Honor Roll.

All-time, Grove City has produced 45 Academic All-Americans, including 26 since 2002. Those 26 Academic All-Americans have accounted for 35 total Academic All-America honors. Grove City has had at least one CoSIDA Academic All-American in each of the last 14 academic years.

The 2015-16 academic year marks the fifth year that CoSIDA has based its Academic All-America program on individual divisions within college athletics. Currently, CoSIDA honors student-athletes in NCAA Divisions I, II and III, along with a "College" division that includes NAIA institutions and junior colleges.
