Leuenberger earns Academic All-America

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Recent Grove City College graduate Andrew Leuenberger (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) earned Men's Cross Country/Track and Field College Division First Team Academic All-America honors from ESPN The Magazine and the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) last Wednesday.

It is Leuenberger's second straight Academic All-America citation. He earned Third Team Academic All-America honors as a junior in 2006.

Leuenberger capped his career as a student-athlete in May by receiving the College's Sportsman of the Year award. He lettered three times in both track and cross country and helped Grove City to seven total PAC titles during his career. Leuenberger twice earned All-PAC honors in cross country and captained the cross country team each of the last three seasons.

A seven-time Dean's List selection, Leuenberger is president of Mortar Board and has also been inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa. He has also earned induction into the Beta Beta Beta biology honorary, Scroll & Key and Roundtable. Leuenberger is also a seven-time PAC Academic Honor Roll selection as well as a Presidential Scholarship recipient.

Leuenberger has also been accepted into Who's Who Among American Colleges and University while also actively participating in Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the College's Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC). He was also a finalist for Grove City College's Senior Man of the Year award this spring.

He graduated with a cumulative 3.98 grade-point average while majoring in molecular biology.

Leuenberger is the fifth Grove City student-athlete to have earned multiple Academic All-America honors. Leuenberger joins men's basketball player Curt Siverling (1985-86), women's tennis player Anne Kister (1986-87-88), women's soccer player Meg Tilley (2002-03) and women's tennis player Megan Hulick (2004-05) in that group.

It is the fifth straight academic year that at least one Grove City student-athlete earned CoSIDA Academic All-America honors. A College-record 22 student-athletes earned Academic All-District status during the 2006-07 academic year.
