Three Wolverines earn weekly conference honors

GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Three Grove City College student-athletes have been honored by the Presidents' Athletic Conference as Athletes of the Week in their respective sports for events contested from October 20-26, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

Freshman Emily Flenniken (Hudson, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) was named the PAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week while senior Keegan Reed (Greencastle, Pa./James Buchanan) and sophomore Jeremy Kim (Frederick, Md./New Life Christian) were named the conference's women's and men's swimmers of the week, respectively.

Flenniken earned her first career weekly honor from the conference after helping the Wolverines to a pair of shutout conference victories. After helping Grove City keep a clean slate in a 9-0 win at Chatham, she assisted on her sister Sarah Flenniken's game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over rival Westminster.

Grove City, now 8-8-1 overall and a perfect 7-0 in PAC play, has clinched a top-two seed and a home semifinal game in the upcoming conference tournament. The Wolverines visit Saint Vincent (2-13-1, 2-4-1) on Tuesday for a 3 p.m. conference match.

Reed won two individual events and posted the meet's fastest time in a third as the Grove City women's swimming and diving team rolled to a 161.5-125.5 victory over Allegheny in their home and dual-meet opener on Saturday. She won the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.91 before completing the stroke sweep with a victorious time of 2:34.02 in the 200 breaststroke. Additionally, she and fellow senior Lauren Cassano tied for the fastest time of the day in the 200 individual medley (2:17.04) as exhibition competitors.
