Rabenold, McRae compete at NCAA Championships

HANOVER, Ind. -- Two Grove City College cross country runners competed in the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships Saturday afternoon at Hanover College. Sophomore Emily Rabenold (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) represented the Grove City women's program and senior Arleigh McRae (East Brookfield, Mass./Whitinsville Christian) competed on the men's side.

Rabenold took 179th out of 280 runners at the meet. She completed the six-kilometer course in 23 minutes, 12 seconds. Meanwhile, McRae placed 103rd out of 275 runners with a time of 25:54.9 for eight kilometers.

St. Scholastica senior Chelsea Johnson won the women's individual race in 21:11.7. Johns Hopkins won the women's team championship with 85 team points. Connecticut College senior Michael LeDuc won the men's race with a 24:29.3 clocking. St. Olaf (84 points) edged North Central (86) for the men's title.

Rabenold earned Presidents' Athletic Conference Most Valuable Performer honors three weeks ago at the conference championships after winning the individual race. She earned All-Mideast Region honors after taking 10th at the Mideast Championships last Saturday.

McRae placed second individually at the conference meet and earned First Team All-PAC. He captured 15th at the Mideast Championships, earning All-Region recognition.

Both McRae and Rabenold made their first appearance at the NCAA Championships.
