GREENVILLE, PA, March 28, 2000--The Grove City College baseball team evened its record to 5-5 on the season and improved to 5-1 in conference play with a doubleheader sweep over Thiel College Tuesday in Greenville.  The Wolverines won the first game 7-4 and the nightcap 10-1.  Thiel fell to 8-13 overall, 1-5 in the PAC.

Eric Bell (Grove City, PA/Grove City) went 4-for-7 in the twin bill with an RBI and three runs scored.  Nate Kauffman (Canonsburg, PA/Canon-McMillan) drove in five on the afternoon with three hits, including a two-run homer in first inning of game two (his second of the year) and a double.  

Brian Kaufold (Butler, PA/Butler) got the win (1-2) in game one, allowing just three hits and two unearned runs over five innings, while striking out six and walking three.  Bill Hammel (Saxonburg, PA/South Kitsap (WA)) tossed the final two frames and gave up one hit and two runs (one earned).

Ben Helms (Mead, WA/St. George School) notched the complete-game victory (1-0) in the nightcap, surrendering seven hits and an earned run over seven innings with three strikeouts and no walks.

Grove City has won five of its last six and hosts defending PAC champion Bethany Thursday.
