Grove City splits with Waynesburg First Game Box Second Game Box GROVE CITY, PA, April 1, 2000--Grove City (7-7, 7-3 PAC) edged visiting Waynesburg (8-11, 3-4) in the first of two Saturday afternoon, 2-1, but the Yellow Jackets triumphed in the nightcap, 3-1. Mike Kashurba (Latrobe, PA/Greater Latrobe) knocked in both Wolverine runs in the opener with a pair of singles -- one in the first, the other in the sixth. J.G. Louden (Morgantown, WV/University) notched the complete-game victory, scattering six hits and striking out eight over seven innings. In the second game, Eric Bell (Grove City, PA/Grove City), Nate Kauffman (Canonsburg, PA/Canon-McMillan) and Matt Skipper (Canton, OH/Canton South) collected two hits apiece. Kauffman singled home Adam Booth (Hartville, OH/Lake) in the first to account for the lone Wolverine tally. Waynesburg rallied with two runs in the third and one in the sixth off of GCC starter Ben Helms (Mead, WA/St. George School), who yielded nine hits in seven complete innings. One of the three runs charged against Helms was unearned. |
