Moran named First Team All-American

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Grove City College senior center fielder Brian Moran (Columbia, Md./Chapelgate Christian) earned First Team All-America honors from D3Baseball.com Tuesday night. He is the first Grove City baseball player to earn All-America honors since the program's reinstatement in 1959, according to available records.

Moran led Grove City in nearly every offensive category this season. He hit .454 this season and set new Grove City single-season records with 45 runs scored, 59 hits, 50 runs batted in, 34 steals and 100 total bases. Moran clubbed eight home runs and slugged .769. He also produced a .559 on-base percentage.

Moran led the Presidents' Athletic Conference in batting average, on-base percentage, walks and stolen bases this year. He also ranked second in the conference in slugging percentage and earned the conference's Most Valuable Player award. Moran earned First Team All-PAC in both 2007 and 2008. In 2007, Moran earned All-Mideast Region honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association.

This spring, Moran helped lead Grove City to the PAC title and the Wolverines' first-ever postseason appearance as Grove City advanced to the NCAA Championship Tournament. In two games at the New York Regional in Auburn, N.Y., Moran went 4 for 9 with four stolen bases.

Moran wrapped up his career as Grove City's all-time career leader in batting average (.436) and stolen bases (63). He also produced a .516 career on-base percentage and a .730 career slugging percentage.
