Magister earns ABCA All-Mideast

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Grove City College junior catcher Marcus Magister (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) earned Third Team All-Mideast Region honors Tuesday from the American Baseball Coaches Association.

Magister hit .417 this year and led the Wolverines in hits (58), home runs (7), runs batted in (42), total bases (95), extra-base hits (22) and slugging percentage (.683) during the 2010 season. Magister ranked sixth in the Presidents' Athletic Conference in batting average and slugging this year. He earned First Team All-PAC for the second straight season earlier this month.

Magister is tied with Nate Kauffman (1998-2001) as Grove City's career leader in home runs with 23. Magister earned First Team All-Mideast from the ABCA and D3Baseball.com in 2009. He is also a two-time CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District selection.

Magister helped Grove City qualify for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Southern Championship Tournament this season.

It is the fifth straight year that a Grove City player has earned ABCA All-Region honors. Outfielder Brian Moran earned All-Mideast honors in 2007 and 2008. In 2006, pitcher Erik Arnesen earned ABCA All-Region recognition. Arnesen is now at Class AA Harrisburg in the Washington Nationals organization.
