Magister earns All-ECAC recognition

CENTERVILLE, Mass. -- Grove City College junior catcher Marcus Magister (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) earned Second Team All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South honors from the region's head baseball coaches Thursday night.

Magister hit .417 this year and led the Wolverines in hits (58), home runs (7), runs batted in (42), total bases (95), extra-base hits (22) and slugging percentage (.683) during the 2010 season. Magister ranked sixth in the Presidents' Athletic Conference in batting average and slugging this year. He earned First Team All-PAC for the second straight season.

Magister is tied with Nate Kauffman (1998-2001) as Grove City's career leader in home runs with 23. Magister is also a two-time CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District selection and a two-time American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Mideast selection.

He helped Grove City qualify for the ECAC Southern Championship Tournament this season.

Five PAC players earned All-ECAC recognition. Washington & Jefferson first baseman Frank Quirin and W&J outfielder Jim Pasquine both earned First Team status. Bethany DH Chris Leasure and W&J third baseman Mike Kennedy joined Magister on the Second Team.
