GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College baseball team fell to 7-4 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Saturday afternoon with a 15-7 home setback against conference foe Thomas More (21-11, 9-2 PAC) at R. Jack Behringer Field.

Grove City -- the designated visiting team in Saturday's game -- took an early 2-0 lead. Junior center fielder Dan Quirk (Schuylerville, N.Y./Schuylerville) roped a run-scoring single in the top of the second to give the Wolverines a 1-0 lead. In the third, junior third baseman Andrew Patterson (Akron, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) singled and scored on a double by junior shortstop Scott Moran (Columbia, Md./Chapelgate Christian).

Thomas More took the lead for good in the bottom of the third with a nine-run outburst, however. The Saints combined four hits with five Grove City walks, an error and a balk during the inning as the Saints sent 14 batters to the plate. Thomas More then broke the game open with five runs in the fifth inning.

Five Grove City players posted multi-hit efforts Saturday. Moran doubled and singled as did sophomore catcher Marcus Chakot (Indiana, Pa./Indiana). Freshman catcher Andrew Desrosiers (Uniontown, Ohio/Hoover), junior left fielder Butch Kriger (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) and freshman right fielder Josh Sacks (Columbia, Md./Chapelgate Christian) all singled twice.

The Wolverines finished the game with 16 hits while Thomas More collected 15 hits. Grove City is now 10-2 when out-hitting an opponent in a game.
