NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College baseball team dropped a 14-5 decision at Westminster in Presidents' Athletic Conference action Friday afternoon. Grove City jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first but Westminster charged back for the victory.

Sophomore DH Andy Fritz (Saxonburg, Pa./Knoch) paced Grove City's 13-hit attack by going 3 for 4. Sophomore right fielder Nolan Myers (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) and sophomore third baseman Brandon Gresh (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) both went 2 for 4 while sophomore shortstop David Laylock (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pine-Richland) went 2 for 5.

Laylock led off with a single in the first and later scored on a double from freshman left fielder Drew Landis (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion). Fritz singled in Landis with the second run of Grove City's five-run inning and sophomore catcher Nick Fryer (Medina, Ohio/Medina) followed by singling home sophomore first baseman Matt Waugaman (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny). Gresh then singled home Fritz and Fryer.

Westminster (14-18, 8-10 PAC) scored twice in the first inning and then tied the game with a three-run second inning. Westminster surged ahead by again scoring twice in the third inning.

Senior pitcher Mason Stephens (Uniontown, Ohio/Lake) took the setback for Grove City (9-17, 5-11 PAC) after yielding seven runs in three innings.
