CATHY JACOBS

Cathy Jacobs enters her 26th year as a member of the Grove City College athletic staff and her sixth year as the department's facility coordinator.

In this role, Jacobs handles scheduling for all of Grove City College's athletic facilities as well as overseeing all game management responsibilities.

Jacobs also holds the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Education and Athletics.

Jacobs came to Grove City in 1988 as the first women's swimming and diving coach in College history, serving in that role until 2008. She also coached the women's tennis team from 1991-2007.

Under her guidance, the women's swimming and diving program posted a 129-88 record and captured six Presidents' Athletic Conference championships.

In the program's first two seasons, Grove City posted a 6-15 combined record. But in 1990-91, the program's third year, Grove City posted nine dual-meet victories and its first Presidents' Athletic Conference title. Two years later, Grove City capped an 11-1 season by winning its second PAC title.

As the 1990s progressed, Grove City continued its dominance of the PAC by winning four consecutive league crowns. During that four-year span between 1995-99, Grove City posted a combined 35-10 record in dual meets. Grove City assembled nine consecutive winning seasons during the decade.

Jacobs also coached three-time NCAA Division III butterfly champion Peggy Whitbeck from 2001-04, helping Whitbeck accumulate eight NCAA All-America citations in her career. In all, Jacobs coached five swimmers who have achieved NCAA All-America distinction and earned the American Swimming Coaches Association Award of Excellence four times as head coach.

In 16 years as women's tennis coach, Jacobs directed Grove City to 16 PAC titles, compiling a 122-34 record.

A native of McComb, Miss., Jacobs earned her bachelor's degree in health, physical education and recreation from Delta State (Miss.) in 1983. She added her master's degree from Delta State in 1986.

Jacobs lives in Grove City.
