Clark earns Third Team All-Region
GROVE CITY, Pa. – Grove City College junior defensive tackle Tony Clark (Stow, Ohio/Stow) recently earned Third Team All-South Region honors from D3Football.com. It is Clark's first All-Region honor.
A 6-foot-4, 265-pound three-year letterman, Clark started all 10 games at tackle for the Wolverines (6-4 in 2008) this year. He recorded 48 total tackles, including 7.5 for loss. Clark also had 4.5 quarterback sacks and forced a fumble.
His work up front helped Grove City boast the top-ranked pass defense in the Presidents' Athletic Conference. He earned Second Team All-PAC honors from the conference's head football coaches last month.
Clark highlighted his 2008 season by recording seven tackles and a sack in the Wolverines' 38-13 win over Geneva October 11. He also had seven tackles against Dickinson and Saint Vincent. Clark then capped his season with six tackles and a sack in a 20-14 victory over Thiel November 15 in the 25th Mercer County Cup game.
Clark has started 25 games at Grove City and is also the team's snapper for extra points and field goals.
It is the second straight year that a Grove City defensive lineman has earned All-South Region honors. Last year, Justin Fowler earned Third Team All-Region. Current senior cornerback Mike Baker (Harrison City, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) also earned All-Region in 2007.
