Frawley to play in Tazon de Estrellas
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Grove City senior football player
Jarred Frawley (Franklin, Pa./Franklin) earned an invitation to participate in
the 2011 Tazon de Estrellas (Bowl of the Stars) as part of a Division III
all-star team in Puebla, Mexico, December 17.
Frawley will play for Team Stars and Stripes against a
64-man team of Mexican college all-stars in the third annual game.
A 6-foot-1, 285-pound nose tackle, Frawley served as a
team co-captain for the Wolverines in 2011 and earned First Team All-Presidents’
Athletic Conference following the season. Frawley recorded 39 tackles this year,
including a team-leading 11.5 tackles for loss. His teammates selected him as
Grove City’s Most Valuable Player.
A four-year starter on the defensive line, Frawley also
earned First Team All-PAC recognition as a junior. He made 37 career starts and
earned four letters. He concluded his career with 131 total tackles and 29 for
loss. Twenty-two of those 29 tackles for loss came over the past two seasons.
It is the second straight year that a Grove City player
has represented the United States in the Tazon de Estrellas. In 2010, offensive
tackle Pete Polesnak helped Team Stars and Stripes to a 48-7 victory over the
Mexican all-star team.
Three Grove City players participated in the Tazon de
Estrellas’ predecessor, the Aztec Bowl. Brock McCullough played for the United
States in 2000 while Aaron Margo (2005) and Matt Gregg (2007) also played in the
Aztec Bowl.
