Grove City wins 2nd straight
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Grove City amassed 252 rushing yards Saturday afternoon en route to a 21-12 Homecoming victory over Presidents' Athletic Conference rival Bethany at Robert E. Thorn Field.
It is Grove City's second straight win overall and ninth straight victory over the Bison (1-4, 0-3 PAC). Grove City is 1-1 in the PAC and 2-3 overall.
Sophomore fullback Matt Weil (Fombell, Pa./Riverside) ran for a career-high 162 yards on 31 carries to help lead the Wolverine ground attack. His seven-yard touchdown run with 2:24 left in the game helped seal the Wolverine win.
Grove City jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Junior split end Scott Fichter (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) hauled in a 31-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Bradford Clark (Letart, W. Va./Wahama) with 6:02 left in the first period. The extra point failed.

Bethany cut the lead to 14-6 with 5:52 left in the first half as T.J. Parker caught the first of two touchdown passes. Grove City defensive end Steve Weary (Fredonia, Pa./Reynolds) blocked the extra point. It is Weary's fifth career blocked kick, which sets a new Grove City career record.
