Baker named to D3Football.com Team of the Week

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Grove City College junior cornerback Mike Baker (Harrison City, Pa./Greensburg Central Catholic) earned a spot on D3Football.com's Week Three "Team of the Week" Wednesday night due to his efforts in Grove City's 23-16 victory at Thomas More last Saturday.

Baker intercepted two passes in the end zone against Thomas More, including one with 1:22 left in the game that helped seal Grove City's victory. He also intercepted a second-quarter pass in the end zone, snuffing out a Thomas More drive.

Baker, a 5-foot-10, 185-pounder, also recovered a fumble at the Grove City 35 midway through the fourth quarter. That recovery set up Grove City's final touchdown drive. He added six total tackles and a pass deflection.

Baker also earned Presidents' Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors, along with the team's Defensive Player of the Week award. He is the first Grove City player to earn D3Football.com Team of the Week recognition since then-senior Aaron Margo in 2005.

Grove City (1-2, 1-0 PAC) will host Waynesburg Saturday night at 7 p.m. in PAC action. It is the first night home football game at Robert E. Thorn Field in Grove City College history.
