Polesnak competing for Team Stars and Stripes

TOLUCA, Mexico -- Grove City College senior offensive tackle Pete Polesnak (Hermitage, Pa./Kennedy Catholic) will represent Grove City Saturday in the 2010 Taz'n de Estrellas (Bowl of the Stars) as a member of Team Stars and Stripes, a Division III football all-star team. Team Stars and Stripes will face the CONADEIP All-Stars at Tec de Monterrey Stadium in Toluca in the second annual Taz'n de Estrellas.

Polesnak is one of 41 Division III players to be selected for Team Stars and Stripes. He started all four seasons at Grove City and earned First Team All-Presidents' Athletic Conference in 2009 and 2010. The 6-foot-6, 265-pounder started 37 career games and earned four letters.

Polesnak is the fourth Grove City player to play for the United States against a team of Mexican all-stars. Brock McCullough (2000), Aaron Margo (2005) and Matt Gregg (2007) all played for Team USA in the Aztec Bowl, the forerunner to Bowl of the Stars.

Team Stars and Stripes practiced twice Monday. The team will also have double practice sessions Tuesday and Wednesday, a single practice Thursday and a walk-through on Friday. Kickoff is 12 p.m. local time Saturday.

CONADEIP is a national conference of private schools in Mexico. The Mexican all-stars won last year's meeting 24-12. Including the 11 Aztec Bowls played from 1997 to 2007, the United States leads the series with Mexico 10-2.
