Grove City falls to Waynesburg
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College football dropped a 35-0 decision to visiting Waynesburg Saturday afternoon in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at Robert E. Thorn Field on Homecoming 2014.
Waynesburg quarterback Carter Hill completed 20 of 34 passes for 311 yards and five touchdowns, including four touchdowns in the first half.
Sophomore quarterback Aaron Lundmark (Russell, Pa./Eisenhower) made his first start for Grove City and completed 14 of 27 passes for 150 yards. He also ran for a team-best 16 yards on seven carries. Freshman quarterback Tyler Kepple (Chicora, Pa./Karns City) went 5 for 8, good for 22 yards.
Junior Josh Peach (Hartville, Ohio/Lake) caught six passes for 70 yards while junior wide receiver David Folkmire (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) added four receptions. Junior wingback Zach Rader (Butler, Pa./Butler) recorded three catches for 33 yards.
Junior linebacker Bobby Tuttle (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper Saint Clair), senior linebacker Jason Skyrm (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) and freshman safety Kyle Beyer (Perry, Ohio/Perry) all posted nine tackles for Grove City.
Waynesburg took a 7-0 lead with 10:38 left in the first quarter when Hill threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to Bernie Thompson. In the second quarter, Hill threw touchdown passes of 91 and 15 yards, respectively, to Willie Leavell. Hill closed the first half with a 30-yard touchdown pass to Thompson.
Hill finished the scoring by throwing an eight-yard touchdown pass to Andrew English five minutes into the second half. Thompson and English both caught six passes. Jake Forsythe led Waynesburg (4-1, 2-1) with 90 rushing yards on 23 carries.
Grove City (0-4, 0-2) hosts conference foe Washington & Jefferson next Saturday at 7 p.m.
