Titans top Grove City

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College football team dropped a 41-7 decision at Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Westminster Saturday afternoon at Memorial Field. Westminster led 14-0 at halftime and broke open the game with 20 points in the third quarter.

Grove City broke through with 9:43 left in the fourth quarter on a five-yard touchdown run by sophomore quarterback Aaron Lundmark (Russell, Pa./Eisenhower). The run capped an 11-play, 75-yard touchdown drive.

Lundmark completed 4 of 10 passes for 54 yards and added 20 rushing yards on four attempts. Freshman quarterback Tyler Kepple (Chicora, Pa./Karns City) went 11 of 19 for 69 yards. Junior tailback Steve Maskrey (Cranesville, Pa./Northwestern) ran for 33 yards on 11 carries.

Junior wide receiver Josh Peach (Hartville, Ohio/Lake) caught four passes for 40 yards while junior wide receiver David Folkmire (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) had four receptions for 29 yards. Sophomore Luke Brancato (Rockwood, Pa./Rockwood) recorded a team-high 47 receiving yards on two catches.

Junior linebacker Brandon Berringer (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) recorded 12 tackles for Grove City. Senior linebacker Jason Skyrm (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) added eight tackles, including 2.5 for loss. He also had a sack and a forced fumble. Freshman free safety Kyle Beyer (Perry, Ohio/Perry) intercepted his second pass of the season.

Westminster took a 7-0 lead on its first offensive play of the game when Jametrius Bentley scored on an 84-yard hook-and-lateral. Westminster pushed its lead to 14-0 with 1:33 left in the half on Paul Columbo's 18-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Edwards.

In the second half, Columbo threw a pair of touchdown passes to Khurazze Williams and also ran for a 96-yard touchdown run. Kimu Kim added a two-yard touchdown run for Westminster (3-6, 3-4 PAC).

Westminster owned a 533-204 edge in total offense. The Titans went 7 for 13 on third down while Grove City converted 6 of 16.

Grove City closes the regular season next Saturday against visiting Thiel in the 31st annual battle for the prestigious Mercer County Cup. Kickoff at Robert E. Thorn Field is 1:30 p.m.
