Dave Baughman '78
Dave Baughman excelled at the 167-pound weight class for the Grove City College wrestling team from 1975 to 1978, concluding his career as the most-decorated wrestler in program history.
Baughman earned NCAA Division III All-America honors as a sophomore in 1976 by taking fifth place at the national championships at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Two years later, Baughman captured sixth place at the NCAA Championships in Wheaton, Ill., to earn his second All-America honor. He also won three matches at the 1977 NCAA Championships in Binghamton, N.Y., before an injury in the wrestlebacks curtailed his bid for All-America honors.
Baughman compiled a 36-16-4 career record under head coach Joe Kopnisky. His 36 career wins tied for first place on Grove City's all-time victory list.
In 1976, Baughman helped Grove City post a 5-2-1 overall record. That year, he and classmate Carl Huwe helped the Wolverines earn a program-record 13 team points at the NCAA Championships.
A product of what is now Pine-Richland (Pa.) High School, Baughman graduated from Grove City in 1978 with a bachelor's degree in education. He added his master's in recreation resource management from North Carolina State in 1981.
After receiving advice from then-Grove City athletic director Jack Behringer, Baughman entered the emerging field of corporate wellness. He founded Corporate SportsFest, Inc., in 1982 and is the company's President and Executive Director.
