Robert Bishop '66
Penfield, N.Y., product Bob Bishop started all four seasons for the Grove City College men's soccer program from 1962 to 1965 and helped lead the Wolverines to one of the finest four-year periods in history.
As a freshman, Bishop earned a starting spot and helped Grove City advance to the 1962 NCAA Championship Tournament, which encompassed teams from all divisions of play.
Two years later, Bishop played a pivotal role in helping Grove City to a 9-0-0 overall record during the 1964 season. He earned Second Team All- Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Delaware honors following the season.
As a senior captain, Bishop led Grove City to an 8-0-1 record and an invitation to the NCAA Championship Tournament. He captured First Team All- Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Delaware recognition.
Bishop led Grove City in scoring in each of his final three seasons while playing for head coach Cliff Wettig. Grove City compiled a 29-7-2 overall record during Bishop's four seasons, including a 17-0-1 mark during his final two years.
Bishop also started at first base for the Grove City baseball team in 1963.
The College inducted Bishop into its Men's Soccer Hall of Fame in 2009 and he currently serves as a member of its selection committee. He is also a member of the Penfield High School Hall of Fame.
He graduated from Grove City in 1966 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. Bishop now serves as president of RLB Associates, Inc., which distributes orthopedic implants to central and western New York.
