Susan Roberts

In 29 years at Grove City College, Susan Roberts compiled one of the finest multi-sport coaching careers in NCAA Division III history as she amassed 750 total wins while leading three different programs to Presidentsí Athletic Conference titles. She concluded her career as Grove Cityís all-time leader in coaching victories.

Roberts came to Grove City in 1985 as head volleyball coach and head womenís basketball coach. In her first season, Roberts guided the volleyball team to a 41-1 record in 1985, including the programís first PAC title and a berth in the NCAA Championship Tournament.

Grove City finished the regular season ranked No. 1 nationally in the AVCA poll. Roberts earned the Collegiate Volleyball Coaches Associationís Division III Coach of the Year award for 1985.

She also guided Grove City to conference titles in 1986, 1987, 1989, 1992, 1993, 1995, 2000 and 2001. Her 2001 team earned the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III South championship.

Overall, the volleyball program recorded 13 20-win seasons and eight trips to the postseason under Roberts. She posted a 583-424 record as Grove Cityís volleyball coach.

From 1985-93, Roberts coached Grove Cityís womenís basketball team to a 101-78 overall record. The 1986-87 team won the programís first PAC title.

She then coached the softball program from 1994-98, compiling a 66-48 mark. Her 1998 squad set a new program record with 20 wins and won the conference title.

A native of Ontario, Ohio, Roberts added the role of associate director of athletics in 1998. She earned her undergraduate degree in physical education from Ohio University in 1975 and then earned her masterís degree in biomechanics from the University of Arizona.
