Grove City wins big in season opener

WASHINGTON, PA, November 17, 2000--Four Wolverines scored in double-figures as Grove City opened its 2000-2001 season with a 75-56 victory over Carnegie Mellon in the Western Pennsylvania Classic at Washington & Jefferson.

Senior forward Shane Meling (Slippery Rock, PA/Slippery Rock) led the way with a game-high 19 points on 8-for-10 shooting.  Junior forward Pat Roberts (Home, PA/Marion Center) posted 16 points and seven rebounds.  Junior guard Chris Kreider (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) recorded 13 points, a team-high eight boards, four assists and four steals, while sophomore Andy Vlajkovich (Canfield, OH/Canfield) chipped in with 10 points and seven boards.  

Grove City outshot CMU, 54.7% (29-53) to 34.5% (20-58).
