Wolverine winning streak stopped at Juniata

HUNTINGDON, PA, December 7, 2000--Grove City outshot and outrebounded host Juniata, but couldn't overcome 18 turnovers in a 65-56 non-conference defeat.  The Wolverines had their three-game winning streak halted, falling to 4-2, while Juniata improved to 5-2.

Sophomore Andy Vlajkovich (Canfield, OH/Canfield) scored a team-high 12 points for Grove City, who trailed 34-26 at halftime and never got closer.  Freshman Phil Bushre (Swartz Creek, MI/Swartz Creek) and sophomore Greg Randolph (Irwin, PA/Penn-Trafford) finished with 10 and nine points, respectively.   Freshman Jim Fetzner (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) chipped in with seven points.

The Wolverines shot 44% from the floor (23-52), while holding Juniata to 23% shooting in the second half (6-26), 37% in the game (18-49).   Grove City's rebounding edge was 34-29 with Bushre grabbing a game-high 11 boards and Randolph pulling down six caroms.

Juniata had three players in double figures led by Shane Crandall's 17 points.  The Golden Eagles won the game at the free-throw line, hitting 22 of 24 attempts.  Grove City toed the line 10 times, making seven.

Senior Shane Meling (Slippery Rock, PA/Slippery Rock) missed his first start of the season due to a viral infection.  Meling's status is questionable for Saturday's game at Denison, which tips off at 3:00 p.m.
