Box Score

HOLLAND, MI, December 29, 2000--Grove City had four double-digit scorers but couldn't overcome 11-for-25 shooting from the free-throw line in a 70-69 overtime loss to Concordia (WI) in the consolation game of the Russ Devette Holiday Classic at Hope College Friday night.

Junior Chris Kreider (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) fired in a game-high 22 points, adding six assists and six steals for the Wolverines, who rallied from a 35-32 halftime deficit to even the score, 62-62, at the end of regulation.   Freshman Phil Bushre (Swartz Creek, MI/Swartz Creek) recorded a double-double in his first collegiate start, tallying 15 points and 11 rebounds.  Junior Pat Roberts (Home, PA/Marion Center) also posted a pair of double figures with 10 points and 11 boards.   Senior Shane Meling (Slippery Rock, PA/Slippery Rock) chipped in with 10 points.   Like Bushre and Roberts, sophomore Andy Vlajkovich (Canfield, OH/Canfield) grabbed 11 caroms as the Wolverines out-rebounded the Falcons, 48-41.  Vlajkovich also dished out six assists.

Grove City, now 6-4 overall, converted just 4 of 12 free throws in the first half and 4 of 9 in the second period before hitting 3 of 4 in overtime.  The Wolverines labored from outside the arc as well, sinking only 4 of 16 three-pointers.

Concordia, led by Mick Savatovic's 18 points (six threes), improved to 2-7.

Grove City is idle until Jan. 5 when it tips-off at the Moravian College Greyhound Classic in Bethlehem, PA.
