Wolverines fall to Geneva, 64-55

GROVE CITY, PA, December 5, 2001--A game-closing 12-2 run pushed visiting Geneva past Grove City, 64-55, Wednesday night at the College Arena.

An inside basket from forward Pat Roberts (Home, PA/Marion Center) gave Grove City a 53-52 lead with 4:43 left. But the Wolverines managed just one field goal the rest of the way, a jumper from Tanner Prosser (Pittsburgh, PA/Brentwood). Prosser led Grove City with a dozen points and seven rebounds.

Grove City out-rebounded the Golden Tornadoes, 43-29, as Roberts hauled in 10 caroms and Phil Bushre (Swartz Creek, MI/Swartz Creek) added nine. Both Roberts and Bushre tossed in nine points. Freshman Nate Maurer (Mount Lebanon, PA/Linsly School) sparked the Wolverines with eight points off the bench.

The Wolverines (4-2) trailed by as many as eight in the first half before forging a 31-31 tie by halftime.

Geneva (7-3) drilled 11 three-pointers in the game, including five from Jerome Moss. Moss led all scorers with 24 points and scored 13 straight points for Geneva in the second half.

Grove City travels to Case Western Reserve on Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. tip-off.
