Wolverine win streak stopped at four

GROVE CITY, PA, January 19, 2002--The Thiel Tomcats (7-10, 2-0 PAC) shot 50 percent from the field and took sole possession of first place in the Presidents' Athletic Conference with a 79-67 win over host Grove City (12-5, 1-1 PAC) at the College Arena Saturday.

Four Wolverines scored in double figures, led by sophomore Jim Fetzner's (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) 14 points. Senior Pat Roberts (Home, PA/Marion Center) collected a dozen points and 11 rebounds while freshman Nate Maurer (Mount Lebanon, PA/The Linsly School) chipped in 12 points. Junior Andy Vlajkovich (Canfield, OH/Canfield) added 10.

Grove City led 32-30 at halftime but the Tomcats rallied in the second half. Erik Hemsing fired in a game-high 21 points for Thiel, who shot 6-for-11 (54.5 percent) from three-point territory in the second half.

Saturday's game was just the second this year in which the Wolverines have been outrebounded. Thiel held a 32-31 edge on the glass.

Roberts and sophomore Tanner Prosser (Pittsburgh, PA/Brentwood) each had five assists for Grove City, who had its four-game losing streak snapped.
