Wolverines cruise past W&J, 80-58

GROVE CITY, PA, February 9, 2002--The Grove City College men's basketball team completed a three-game sweep over Washington & Jefferson College Saturday afternoon as a dozen Wolverines dented the scoring column in an 80-58 wire-to-wire victory at the College Arena.

Guard Andy Vlajkovich (Canfield, PA/Canfield) led three Wolverines in double figures with 15 points, including a pair of three-pointers.  Center Phil Bushre (Swartz Creek, MI/Swartz Creek) and point guard Ian Dean (Damascus, MD/Damascus) chipped in with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Grove City (16-7, 4-3 PAC) held W&J (5-16, 1-6 PAC) to 30 percent shooting from the floor (19-for-63) and posted a 50-29 edge on the glass.

In the three regular-season meetings, which included a consolation game match-up at the York (Pa.) Tournament, the Wolverines outscored the Presidents by an average margin of 18.6 points and outrebounded them by an average margin of 20.4 boards.

Forward Tanner Prosser (Pittsburgh, PA/Brentwood) recorded a game-high eight rebounds, while forward Pat Roberts (Home, PA/Marion Center) contributed six boards and five assists.

Nolan Larry paced W&J with 23 points.
