O'Keefe earns ECAC award
CENTERVILLE, Mass. -- Grove City College senior men's basketball player Andy O'Keefe (Perry, Ohio/Perry) earned Division III South Player of the Week honors from the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tuesday evening.
O'Keefe, a 6-foot-7 center, earned ECAC Player of the Week honors after averaging 27.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game in two Grove City victories last week.
Saturday, O'Keefe paced the Wolverines with a career-high 33 points in Grove City's 96-85 win at Thomas More. He became Grove City's 24th all-time 1,000-point scorer in the victory. O'Keefe also had seven rebounds and a career-high seven assists.
O'Keefe opened the week by firing in 21 points January 20 as Grove City rolled past visiting Westminster 64-53. O'Keefe also had eight rebounds in Westminster win.
He also earned Presidents' Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors for his performance.
O'Keefe is averaging 18.1 points and 5.9 rebounds per game this year. He is shooting 67.1 percent from the field this year, which is the highest single-season figure in program history. O'Keefe is Grove City's career leader in field goal percentage at 60.3 percent.
Grove City is 11-7 overall and sits atop the PAC with a 5-2 record. The Wolverines host W&J Wednesday night at 8 p.m. in conference action.
