Prosser leads Wolverines past Medaille
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Senior forward Tanner Prosser (Pittsburgh, Pa./Brentwood) fired in 22 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out six assists to help the Grove City College men's basketball team roll by Medaille, 77-56, in non-conference action Wednesday night at the Grove City College Arena.
Junior guard J.D. Collar (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) added 19 points and five assists as Grove City evened its record at 2-2.
The Wolverines broke the game open in the first half with an 18-3 run, sparked by three-pointers from Collar and sophomore guard Matt Phillips (Bainbridge, Ohio/Kenston), who made his first career start. Consecutive Prosser baskets and a lay-up from freshman guard Bobby Glass (New Castle, Pa./Neshannock) capped the blitz.
Grove City led by as many as 28 points in the second half, 67-39. The Wolverines held Medaille (0-4) to just 34 percent (17-for-50) shooting from the floor. Grove City also out-rebounded the Mavericks 41-33, led by Phillips' seven rebounds. Nineteen of the rebounds came at the offensive end.
Junior point guard Mike Lukcic (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) had five steals while Collar had three thefts.
Rene Smith led Medaille with 22 points while center Pierre Bryant had 11 points, 11 rebounds and nine blocked shots.
Grove City visits Case Western Reserve Saturday night.
