Prosser gets 1,000th point but Wolverines fall

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Senior forward Tanner Prosser (Pittsburgh, Pa./Brentwood) became Grove City's 20th all-time 1,000-point scorer but the Wolverines dropped a 67-62 verdict to visiting Denison in non-conference men's basketball Friday night at the Grove City College Arena.

Prosser reached four digits with 6:15 left in the game on a putback, cutting Denison's lead to 51-49. The Wolverines had trailed by as many as 14, 47-33, in the second half before charging back. Grove City (3-4) eventually took a 58-57 lead with three minutes left on a three-pointer from junior Ryan Eller (Erie, Pa./Iroquois).

Eller finished with 18 points, including four three-point goals. Prosser led Grove City with 19 points, giving him 1,003 for his career. The Big Red closed the game with an 8-2 spurt, however.

Denison (3-5) led 32-23 at halftime after closing the first half with an 11-0 run. Denison out-rebounded Grove City, 36-33.

Freshman Danny Hodgkinson led Denison with 23 points while Chris Hull added 13 points, 12 rebounds and five assists for the Big Red.

Grove City committed just nine turnovers for the second consecutive game but could not overcome a 10-for-28 (35.7 percent) shooting effort in the first half.
