Wolverines fall to 0-3
ALTOONA, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's basketball team dropped to 0-3 in 2005-06 with a 69-64 loss to host Penn State Altoona Tuesday night at the Adler Complex.
Sophomore guard Ryan Gerber (Baltic, Ohio/Garaway) led the Wolverines with 19 points, including a 5-for-6 effort on three-point attempts. Sophomore guard Shawn Carr (New Castle, Pa./Mohawk) fired in 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting while senior forward Chuck Cotherman (Knox, Pa./Keystone) added 11 points.
Grove City shot 56 percent (14 of 25) from the floor in the second half but could not overcome Altoona's 28-21 edge on the glass. Penn State Altoona (1-2) took the lead for good at 49-47 with 10:34 left on a Colin Geiger three-pointer.
After trailing by as many as eight, Grove City cut the lead to two, 66-64, with 20 seconds left on a Gerber three and a Carr layup.
Tyler Franklin led Penn State Altoona with 19 points. Grove City visits Medaille Wednesday night in non-conference action.
