Wolverines even PAC record

GROVE CITY, Pa. – The Grove City College men's basketball team improved to 4-4 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference and 8-13 overall Saturday afternoon with a 72-62 victory over visiting Thomas More (2-20, 2-7 PAC) at the Grove City College Arena.

The Wolverines snapped a three-game losing streak with the victory.

Sophomore guards Shawn Carr (New Castle, Pa./Mohawk) and Joe Capotosta (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth) combined for 28 points in the win. Carr fired in a game-high 15 points while Capotosta added 13. Capotosta went 3-for-3 behind the three-point line in the first half. Carr, meanwhile, grabbed a game-high seven rebounds.

The Wolverines shot just 5 of 19 (26 percent) from the floor in the second half. However, Grove City made 30 of 34 (88 percent) free throws for the game. Thomas More, meanwhile, went 9-for-18 at the line.

Grove City used a 9-1 run midway through the first half to take a double-digit lead. The Wolverines led 42-27 at halftime and extended the lead to as many as 21, 52-31, early in the second half.

Grove City held a 33-31 edge on the glass but committed 17 turnovers.

R.K. Thurman led Thomas More with 14 points while Brandon Bolden added 11. E.J. Haynes posted nine points and seven blocks.

Grove City will visit Thiel Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m.
